A 19th century boxwood and ivory flute by William Henry London in mahogany case Estimate ?150-250 A 1 inch section of nibbles to the ivory lip at the upper mount of the lower section of the flute the middle section has a small graze to the lower ivory mount and general tarnishing to all metal keys and a scratch pencil date to the upper section within the boxwood of 57.1973. Upper section also with tarnishing to metal keys upper and middle sections with light scratches and surface blemishes through use lower section a little cleaner but possible with a slight hairline crack visible through the makers name on the lower boxwood section. Complete length of the flute is 27.5inch but of course this is lacking a mouth piece so measurement is to the end of the final screw thread. Length from blow hole to end is 3 inches. Box internally a bit grubby and moth eaten externally ok. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
